Weak Fish

Cynoscion regalis

The Weak Fish is so named for a weakness in its jaw which allows hooked fish to escape.  However, it is not a weak fish at all.  It may reach a weight of 20 pounds.  One of the most favored for food and sport in the estuary, it also represents one of the few sport fish that breed in the estuary.   The Weak fish’s popularity is second only to the Striped bass.
