Barnegat Bay Mosaic Mural

at the Toms River Branch of the Ocean County Library

A partnership of the Barnegat Bay National Estuary Program, NetworkArts of Philadelphia,

The Ocean County Library, and Discovery Place of South Toms River

              Artists Josey and Earl Stamm of the Philadelphia-based NetworkArts
sketch their vision for the mosaic mural on the wall.

Students from the Discovery Place summer program in South Toms River sculpt and paint
the various species of plants and animals of the bay for the mosaic mural.

Research for the mosaic mural took place in and out of the classroom. 
The Discovery Place students took field trips to Cattus Island County Park, Island Beach State Park,
and the Lighthouse Center for Natural Resource Education to experience a natural work of art, Barnegat Bay.

Putting it all together:  some of the students came to the library to help build the mosaic mural, one tile at a
time, and look at the amazing result!  A permanent tribute to our Barnegat Bay at the Ocean County Library!
